The cocktail lounge upstairs is very grand and was nice to sit and luxuriate there also. The 2007 James Bond film, Casino Royal, mainly used the exterior of the hotel to represent the Hotel Splendide, and as a film set it does looks very grand. The parking lot is also seen when the police finds the bodies of Le Chiffre's henchmen in the trunk of a car. Don't expect an international adapter, you must purchase it from the concierge - it is not about the cost but the service, with such a "Grand" and famous property you would think such a small detail would be included with your room.
The room, fantastic. Didn't understand this one. Reception was most helpful, we did not have reservations and simply walked in hoping for availability for 2 rooms. At last, we were back on the trail of agent 007!!! Taxes and fees that are shown are estimates only.
We checked out the emergency stairwell in the hope that these were also part of the film-scenes, but ascertained that the emergency stairwell was too narrow and having checked the film in our room it was clear that these were probably shot at Pinewood with the stunt team. Our pack showed we had an 11am appointment to access the Castle Locket so we checked with reception only to find that the castle is 12km away and as with the beer spa which is also included in the package, but is 55km away, the transport is not included and it's down to the guest to arrange and pay for their own return transport - this is made clear in the hotel paper literature you receive on arrival but is not mentioned on their website when booking the package. The dining room in the hotel was used to film the late night dinner of Bond and Vesper (where Bond comes up with the name of the drink Vesper Martini). We were offered twenty bullets and a choice of pistols, ranging from the Walther PPK through to a Glock and various semi-automatic machine guns. The rooms are not air conditioned which is definitely problematic in the summer as leaving a window open at night is an open invitation to every biting critter this wooded valley is home to. I stayed in a double, my friend a single. Vespers are not on the cocktail menu, but we had vouchers for them, so there was much shuffling of cocktail recipe cards and frantic telephone calls before they were produced.
Derelict at the time of filming, it is now being restored and you can go inside although there isn't much to see at the moment.If you're a Bond fan, this is a must-visit. I told the manager and he apologised and asked for our room number, me thinking, maybe a bottle wine, for our monty Pythonesque experience, after all it's supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but clearly it was for a black mark against someone's name. It was off to the lift next which also shared a few scenes during the film. Magnificent in its architecture and interior design, this is THE hotel for luxury, relaxation and simple pampering of oneself.Be sure to book some spa treatments beforehand or even on the spot.Staff are very well trained, extremely polite, professional and helpful.The room was amazing and had a beautiful view on the river in front of the hotel.DO NOT MISS dining at the Grand Restaurant Pupp, simply exquisite.If you like walking and don't have much luggage, don't ride a cab to Pupp, instead you can walk (approximately 15 minutes) through the beautiful scenery of Karlovy Vary. The management need to rethink how the building works. Please do not worry we use the services of the world's leading postal and logistics company. From 2007 - 2012, the hotel offered at special package for Bond fans "In the footsteps of Agent 007". We upgraded both of our rooms to river view, the king sized came french doors to a very small balcony and both were most spacious.
But I told them I was a guest of the hotel so they reluctantly let us eat an expensive small. We share all information with them and hope you give us the chance to enjoy the hospitality of the Grandhotel Pupp in future. I was in Karlsbad or Karlovy Vary for the day and stopped by for lunch at this place. We walked to it, it's quite difficult to find, up some treacherous steep wooden steps (it had snowed, so they were covered in ice). The furnicular to Diana's Tower is right behind it, and there are some nice walks through the woods, if you feel so inclined.Becher's Bar (downstairs) is modelled after an English pub, I don't know why.

Even though some people have complained about bad management, the service was very good. The hotel looks absolutely magnificent lit up in the dark and at this point you actually feel as if you are standing on set watching everything go by. more. Karlovy Vary is not a village but the historical town, which has (with the agglomeration) nearly 100 000 inhabitants. Karlovy Vary is stunning and Grandhotel Pupp is certainly a jewel in the crown- worth the splurge. We were provided with three free chips each and a drinks token each to start us off, so with an additional fifty pounds of chips purchased we set off to break the Casino. A great room with a chandelier, posh looking bed, settee and chairs, safe, minibar, TV (which we didn't use) and bathroom with bath and shower. Each room in the hotel has it's own doorbell, which is a first for me and caused some confusion when a chambermaid appeared at the door to put the bed sheets down for the evening. The Saturday evening of day two was set aside for a meal in the Grand Restaurant – hopefully this would go according to plan. Regarding our spa we are proud of your words.All other things we have to improve as we care for the comfort of our guests in the first place.
There is no aircon in the rooms (unless you book the larger apartments I was told) and no offer of a fan. The spa/pool we didn't use but there were plenty of people wandering around in bath robes who did. The bacon, when present, lies in pools of hot fat: very appetising.
