The Incredible Hulk, ejected from Earth in a spaceship, crash-lands on a planet ruled by a tyrant, who forces him to fight in a coliseum against other powerful creatures. Each half-hour of 1966's Marvel Super Heroes included three seven-minute segments, which explored the exploits of Iron Man, Captain America, Namor, Thor, and of course, the Hulk. The childhood abuse Banner suffered is never referenced in the movies, and it's a shame. The final Incredible Hulk revival TV movie was The Death of the Incredible Hulk.
Planet Hulk definitely has its moments, but in trying to stuff an entire 15-issue story arc (plus tie-ins) into 90 minutes, the feature skips over several key subplots. The computer-generated world and gameplay are more evolved, and our hero even has a few lines, although they're mostly cribbed from Ruffalo's dialogue. Infinity War gave us a lot of Banner and little Hulk, but its sequel 2019's Avengers: Endgame rewards fans with a lot of both. Director Louis Leterrier gives us a classic Hulk villain, the Abomination (Tim Roth), and lays the foundation for the emergence of another in the form of Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), a name Hulk fans would recognize belonging to the mastermind villain the Leader. The Hulk reluctantly befriends the combatants on his team. Super Heroes is a CG-block free-for-all in which a gazillion superheroes team up to stop an equal number of supervillains from nabbing all the "cosmic bricks"—a clever play on Marvel's wish-granting cosmic cubes.
Every Hulk movie ranked from worst to best. And while Chitauri invasions and robotic overlords don't leave much room for a personal life, his brief interludes with Black Widow suggest he's both suave and smashy.
That version of the character was revived in the late '80s for a trilogy of made-for-TV movies which ultimately killed off the TV Hulk. Hulk diverges from its source material, turning the superhero into a product of fatherly genetic manipulation, but the curious twist falls apart thanks to Nick Nolte's ham-fisted performance as Pops Banner. And of course, they team up later for a fight that feels way more A-Team than any fight including the Hulk and Thor really should. He built his career playing characters who were meek pushovers one second and intimidating bullies the next, but Leterrier never utilizes that part of Norton's talent.

It's ironic that 2012's Avengers is above and beyond all other Hulk movies; not only because his name isn't even in the title, but he wasn't in it all that much. He's become a regular fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — aside from the usual Avengers team-ups, Ruffalo co-starred in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and made a post-credits cameo in Iron Man 3.

Part of what makes it so bad, after all, is a director who aims for something more than a summer popcorn flick.
The continuity between this movie and subsequent MCU films remains the same, but as performances go, Norton and Ruffalo’s takes on the character are night and day. 112 min While it tries to subvert the genre, it never finds its rhythm (perhaps thanks to numerous rewrites). For season two, She-Hulk landed a co-starring role, and the writers turned their frowns upside down. Second, the Hulk never gets another shot at Thanos; in fact, he doesn't get much time in the final battle at all. In every comic book battle between Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man, the Hulk either defeats Tony or it's a draw. Edward Norton, The Incredible Hulk is an odd fit for the MCU, speeding through its origin story in the first few minutes before acting as a quasi-sequel and reboot of Ang Lee’s 2003 film starring Eric Bana. The sound of the Hulk is a huge improvement from 2003's Hulk — when he roars in challenge at the soldiers at Culver University, he sounds like a bellowing T-Rex.
